I think the first step anyone can really take is to let people know about what's going on. Sometimes, the only reason people don't want to help is because they don't know HOW! We have to first spread knowledge before we can change anything.

Coordinate w/ organizations for united message

Coordinate education efforts of local governments, non-profits, schools, and businesses so that there is a united voice and message. For example, educate about community gardens during planting season so that people are hearing about the same issue from different sources.

Encourage responsible recycling of computer equipment

Educate the public about the hazards of throwing computer equipment away and encourage responsible recycling as alternative. Electronics contain toxic metals and chemicals that can seriously damage the environment when they end up in landfills. Environment Teaching
