Recycle

Use solar power and wind power. Most of Europe is way ahead of the US and using both. Iceland has cars that run on hydrogen. Use rain water to flush toilets and water the yards. Many Europeans routinely do both. There are underground storage tanks and rain barrels to collect the water. Support local companies that promote a healthy environment

Help get the word out about companies like Go Green Box. We are based in Little Rock and help keep cardboard out of our landfills by renting reusable moving boxes. We also carry biodegradable packing supplies that can be thrown in your garden after you unpack and will fertilize the soil. All for about 1/2 the cost of new cardboard boxes.

Please look before you develop more in LR

LR needs better planning for contractors that just go in and cut every tree down to put in a new neighborhood. Also consider the big shopping centers and even the big box churches--just drive around west little rock and look around.

Environmentally Friendly Parking Lots

Eliminate regulations that require that parking lots be paved with asphalt or concrete. A few parking spaces should be paved smooth for handicap accessibility, but the other spaces should be covered with gravel. It would provide a substrate with high surface area for biodegration of oils that drip from vehicles. It would also slow down storm water runoff, and promote groundwater recharge.
