Nature even in parking lots

One of the people that stopped by our table at the Little Rock Zoo Earth Day Celebration suggested: we should have more nature- even in parking lots. Trees, flowers, etc. should be everywhere rather than empty spaces.

Recycling Must be Increased

Central Arkansas needs to deal with the lack of recycling in the downtown area and in a large number of apartments/housing units. Please, please develop some strategies to start this process of collecting recycable products from offices, restaurants and otherlocalaties. I don't believe the Clinton Library even recycles. We can and must do better. Carol Roddy

Urban Gardens

Many in Little Rock would like to garden, but don't have access to land. The city should investigate using empty lots for this purpose and/or approach property owners about volunteering even very small areas of land for this purpose. Raised beds could be added to areas such as sparsely used parking lots & rooftops--raised beds are especially helpful to the elderly who enjoy gardening but have trouble bending.

new construction

Limit new construction and encourage construction on land which has already been cleared of trees and grass. For example, instead of new offices in West Little Rock, encourage and incent businesses to build on existing empty lots in midtown or downtown.

Recycle prescriptions/old pills. Don't flush them down the toilet and risk polluting our water systems.
