Pedestrian Crosswalks & Center Turn land on Cantrell

Suggest that you have a center turn trafic lane on Cantrell between the Perryville Road and Mississippi Roads and include sidewalks on both sides and crosswalk with crossing light for pedestrians @ Mississippi and Hughes Streets. There is no safe place for pedestrians or bikers to cross Cantrell from University and Foxcroft St.

Prepare infrastructure for electric vehicles

Prepare for infrastructure needed for electric vehicles. The all-electric Nissan Leaf is coming out later this year, and there is no where to charge it in central AR other than your house or an RV park. I don't think EVs will replace gas vehicles any time soon, but we need to realize that people want to have the option of having an all-electric vehicle. Stop pushing light rail transit

Stop pushing light rail transit. It is very cost intensive and lacks flexibility. Use a mixture of buses and vans instead. We need small scale regional transit to help people that can't afford cars to get from their homes to work, medical appointments or grocery shopping. These people have no way to travel miles to the light rail stops.

Environmentally Friendly Parking Lots

Eliminate regulations that require that parking lots be paved with asphalt or concrete. A few parking spaces should be paved smooth for handicap accessibility, but the other spaces should be covered with gravel. It would provide a substrate with high surface area for biodegration of oils that drip from vehicles. It would also slow down storm water runoff, and promote groundwater recharge. For examples of what this ...more »

Bike highway

Little Rock needs a bike highway from west to downtown. Markham would be a perfect choice. Add a lane and secure it with railings for safety from traffic. This would enable people to get to work, school, shopping, food, and recreation quickly. The river trail is great for recreation, but does not fit into most peoples daily travel patterns. Also, I do not feel safe traveling the entire trail by myself.

How much coal is required to run a 100-watt light bulb 24 hours a day for a year?????????????????????? We'll start by figuring out how much energy in kilowatt-hours the light bulb uses per year. We multiply how much power it uses in kilowatts, by the number of hours in a year. That gives 0.1 kW x 8,760 hours or 876 kWh. The thermal energy content of coal is 6,150 kWh/ton. Although coal fired power generators are very ...more »
